After finding "Winter Enthroned" on here, A.W.'s first full-length, I decided to get this one too, it's their 2009 demo, which did set the premise for "Winter Enthroned", sounding indeed like early In Flames, DT, Children of Bodom, etc. Don't bother with Perdition I and II, completely different change of register in those 'mostly' instrumental releases. "Forest of Silence" will be checked out soon.
Favorite track: Beyond These Frozen Castle Walls.

One of the most majestic and imposing albums I have ever listened to. No other project is able to convey the uncompromising beauty and might of the vast cosmos like Mesarthim does. Insignificance on such a grand scale is maybe not so troublesome after all if wonder and splendour await in every corner of the universe?

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!!
